I have been active in the comic book industry since the mid-70’s. I launched and co-edited the Fast Fiction fanzine in the ‘80s and was a regular artist in the influential Escape magazine. My other work includes Illegal Alien written by James Robinson; Lucifer with Eddie Campbell; writing Absent Friends for Paul Grist; Tupelo with Matt DeGennaro and illustrating Glenn Dakin’s Greenhouse Warriors, Mr Night and The Rockpool Files . I have also appeared in Aces Weekly, Real Ghostbusters and Power Rangers magazine and many other comics and magazines published by the likes of Dark Horse, DC, Fantagraphics, Image and Rebellion. As well as my own work, I have also colored comics illustrated by other artists. These include Paul Grist, Mark Buckingham, John Ridgway, Steve Yeowell, Pia Guerra, Tim Hamilton, Hunt Emerson and Horacio Domingues. These comics were published by DC, Dark Horse, Image, IDW and Titan Books.

For a period, I collaborated with Paul Grist (Kane, Jack Staff) on a series of comic strips that were printed in a diverse selection of magazines, including Taboo and Escape. This book collects together all these stories for the first time and shows my personal vignettes about young love, struggling artistes and sex being brought to life by Grists sensitive rendering and supreme draughtsmanship. |
"Darren's Story" is a 4-page strip based on a true story that was published in an educational comicbook, Cops and Robbers, that was published by The Christian Police Association.
The comic is offered to young people detained in custody at police stations in London. |
